Psychotherapy & Hypnotherapy, Brackley, Phil Andrew

Psychotherapy, sometimes referred to as ‘talk therapy’ is when a person speaks with a trained therapist in a safe and confidential environment to explore such issues as stress, worry, anxiety or depression. Based on regular personal interaction, psychotherapy aims to improve an individual's well-being and mental health. To resolve or mitigate troublesome behaviours, beliefs, compulsions, thoughts, or emotions and to improve relationships and social skills.

Hypnotherapy is a guided therapeutic technique that uses hypnosis to create a state of focused attention, deep relaxation, and heightened suggestibility. It can help to address behavioural, emotional, or physical issues by tapping into the subconscious mind to promote positive changes. It is often used to manage pain, reduce anxiety, and break habits.

FAQs

Will there be anyone else in the room?

No, all sessions are confidential one to one, however you can bring a chaperone if that will make you more comfortable.

Can you make me say or do something that I don’t want to do?

Contrary to popular depictions, you cannot be made to do anything that goes against your wishes whilst in a state of hypnosis.

Do I have to lie on a couch during psychotherapy?

I work with clients face to face in armchairs. However if you do not want to make eye contact during some parts of the treatment you can turn your chair away. The most important thing is that you feel safe and comfortable.

Do you think I’m a strange person?

It’s not my job to sit in judgement or ‘keep score’. Seeking help is an incredibly brave thing to do and I admire you for that.
